Tucson
Having spent the majority of last year living abroad, travelling, and studying in a design university, I have reached a better understanding of the richness of my hometown, Tucson, AZ. Tucson is a strange and vibrant city/town . It has a population of near one million and a land area of 505.3 km²/195.1 mi² and is proximal to the US/Mexico border. The city grew from pioneer homesteads in the desert basin between mountian ranges and has since boomed into a sprawling multicultural community. Though the urban history of the city is short, Tucson boasts a great range of cultural events, social groups, academics young and old, and creative communities. Tucson is a youthful and innovative place to be. This is a catalog and critique of the Tucson community, also with a nod to international musings on community, design, and art.
